The Troy Robotics Foundation (TRF) is working with the Troy School District (TSD) to collect data and apply teams for the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
This page provides essential information for all TSD robotics team coaches.
Please read it carefully to ensure your team's eligibility.
To be considered for the grant, your team must submit the following by October 17, 2025:
A completed submission form (available via a link provided above).
A complete team roster (using the downloadable file found on the form).
Important:
No extensions will be given, and incomplete or late submissions will be automatically disqualified.
If the MDE changes the form's requirements, we'll notify you and provide an updated form for resubmission.
The grant funds will be distributed in June or July, once the MDE sends the money to the TSD.
TRF will then work with the TSD to notify coaches when the funds are available.
The Michigan Department of Education awards grants competitively, prioritizing:
Schools serving economically disadvantaged populations
Districts providing geographic diversity across the state
Schools with high percentages of low-income families (based on free/reduced lunch data)
First-time robotics competition teams (priority given to high school programs)
Districts establishing feeder programs that create pathways to higher-level teams
The grant's legal recipient is the school building, not the individual team or coach.
Therefore, all materials and equipment purchased with these grant funds become the property of the school.
TSD will be working with TRF to ensure fair distribution of funds to each team at the time of distribution.
